Tactile Books: From the Ground Up Including Two Paradoxes
In this session you will learn all about tactile illustrated books (TiB) the user experience, the value of using TiB in your education, the complexity of designing a TiB and what new technologies can provide to TiB and your education.
We think we know what a tactile illustrated book (TiB) is, its value and what it can provide for a young child with visual impairment. However, perspectives differ, basic terminology is sometimes inconsistent and fundamental questions have not always been thoroughly examined.
In this session Philippe will go back to the fundamentals and offer new insights, examining what we thought we already knew as well as what we do not yet know. He will answer questions as: How is to a “read” a tactile picture? How should you design a tactile book for a particular child? Who are the audience for tactile books and what are tactile books able to provide for this audience? Go to this session if you are interested in learning more about tactile illustrated books.
